# Updates a customer's information

PATCH {{baseURL}}/v2/customers/{{customerId}}
This endpoint performs a partial update to an existing customer's record.
Send only the fields needed to be changed.
Any field left out of the request is left unchanged.
A field explicitly set to `null` clears its existing value.
This applies to nested structures too, such as `billingAddress` and `shippingAddress`.
Updating one field within an address doesn't require resending the whole object.
This endpoint requires a merchant API token.
A partner API token will result in a permissions error including possibly a 403 response.
